If the world were to run out of oil, it would be a zoo, literally. People have forgotten how to function without all the modern day conveniences. We rely way too much on technology. I can just picture the fighting and society going totally backwards. There would more than likely be outbreaks of disease as water filtering plants and such stopped. Crime would be rampant because there would be food, medicine, etc., shortages. I really hope I'm wrong and that people would adjust in a civilized manner, but judging by what's going on today, I doubt it.

The fact is the world has many years of oil reserves, including oil shale. The geopolitical question is more important than the resource reserve. Factually, the next Prez will lead the U S on a path of less dependence on imported oil...without regard to political party. The technology is on the cusp of making us 10% less dependent upon imports. I be live we will be there in a decade or so. By the time we 'run out' there will be any number of alternatives. You must think globally...the folk of all industrial nations are doing the research similar to ours. Someone will breakthrough. Ultimately, this research is incremental, not blockbuster. A SMALL GAIN HERE/THERE OVER TIME ADDS UP.

The world is never going to run out of oil. It may get more and more expensive, but that just means people will gradually find alternatives After all, the coal age didn't end because of a lack of coal. Then there's the whole theory of abiotic oil.

People will learn the vulnerability of human race and the domination of technology over human life on the planet.
It will be a blessing in disguies that, the people may turn back to nature. It will bring his speed down and will have more time to spend with his wife and children. There will no be any more booming of concrete jungle. The world will become more suitable place for harmonious survival.

First question I would ask you is this.
How much longer do you think we have until this disaster happens?
Does the earth create oil still? or is it just something old and in the ground that will never be again?
I think you should research what Oil actually is and how the earth makes it.
Oh, and the USA and Canada have more OIL then then entire middle eastern region. The Liberals have froze us from drilling, therefore, Gas prices are now souring! Thanks Liberals!

I don't think we will have to worry about that. What we do have to worry about is Global Warming. and if oil does run out then good. Then we would probably use other power like Brazil. Its sad that America is still an oil and BRAZIL a 3rd world country isn't
