I used to but like many others, I discovered that knowing is person has lot more to it than just his/her occupation. In fact sometime my assessment of individuals have been so wrong where my perception was totally based on one's occupation and behavior on the job while in other part of life they are totally different people, almost like having different personalities and living different lives. So while their accupation and cars they drive does say a lot about few dimensions of their life, there is lot more to it for which its very important to know the person closely.

No..i define people by the way they treat other people, how he value life and good morals..Occupation, car, house are all material things and doesnt make sense to an honorable and sensible man.

It's certainly not a defining criteria or even the most important criteria, but those two things do reveal quite a bit about a person. I think there has to be a compatibility and comfortability factor between people where those two items are concerned.

I think we all do to a certain extent, although most will deny it. I drive a beat-up pick-up-side and bumper dented in, rust- the works. In a judge-a-book-by-its-cover kind of world, you must realize that the basic purpose of a material object is just that. As far as occupation, the only way I do judge someone is if they do not have one-i.e. have never worked a day in their lives.

*define* them by their career/car? yes, somewhat. but i try not to *judge* them based on their career/car. what i mean is that you can define a person's style, interests, values, by looking at their career/car, because these are things they CHOSE in their life, over all other options, so it says something about who they are.

Yes and No.
Yes, as materialistic.
No, because I prefer to define people by their character.

No, i learned that especially with my friend. he works as a copy boy at a high school, and he drives a jag XJ12. and what good would that do, the job people do does not make up who they are, just how they earn there money. and as long as they are happy with it or with where it gets them is all that matters.
