Mine is on it's last leg. It's about 2 years old and has taken a few hits in its time. I take it everywhere. I need a new one. Doesn't necessarily need to be top of the line. All I use it for is writing and internet. 256-512 MB ram/ 1 GHZ and up would do just fine. I would prefer new or refurbished and of course some kind of warranty would make me feel better about buying. I got screwed once on ebay (never delivered). Any ideas? I'm looking for under $500 if possible.

Sometimes if you lucky, you can find a good laptop on eBay for cheap. Usually ones without a HD, but all you have to do is swap your old one.

Another good place is a newspaper called "Buy & Sell", check your local area. Or you could try a police auction in your area.

Trust me never buy from the net.
Check all your local newspapers and ensure youre vendor is from your town or near abouts.
