I have a serious problem. I have a friend who is a sex addict. She has probably been with at least one hundred men. She has had protected sex with maybe only five of them the rest of them have been unprotected. Most of them have been one night stands that she meets in bars. She is going to get AIDS, and I’m so worried about her! She knows what she is doing, and she knows the consequences-but it is like she can’t seem to make herself stop. She has weird anxiety problems that build, and build, and when she does it it seems to calm her. It is weird! It isn’t a chemical addiction like heroine or something, so I don’t understand why that is addicting. It isn’t like she is going to go into withdrawals or something. I mean if she likes sex, that is okay. She just needs to do it with one person. I know that she is an adult, but I'm watching my friend kill herself in the worst possible way. It breaks my heart, because she is a single mother! Any advice?

She may be going thru the prime of her life... a period most women go thru when they're 35-45 years old... lots of women enjoy/crave sex a lot more during those years.
A pharmacist or physician could undoubtedly answer that question much better than us.
Suggestions would be>>> cold showers, an anxiety pill, keep the mind occupied with other enjoyable things, keep so busy that there'd not be enough strength left (too tired).

Your friend definately has a problem with sex and probably self esteem. She needs to see a therapist and start using condoms ASAP. Your concerns are real and warranted. She's lucky to have you for a friend.

there is nothing u can do other then try to talk her out of it. there are rehabs for people like that but the main thing is they are not going to stop unless they want to stop and unfortunatly people like that never do stop until they catch something like u prophetsize. good luck

some addictios are a way to shield reality and do something that the gat pleasure, she just dont care about her, she want to feel fine all the time, she has to learn that lesson by her consequences,
you cant save who dont want to be saved, sorry, talk to her.... but you know it will not work, im sorry for her

uhhh tell her to think of her children!! how would it make her feel to know that if she got the aids and died they would be alone with out her. try to find her a nice relaxing hobby. one that cant get frustrating like yoga.
