I was giving blood yesterday and thought, "wow what if this goes to a murderer or rapeist"?

Great in-depth thought. Most would have not thought of it. When you give blood you are giving a gift of life or hope to somebody. The fact that you are 'giving of it freely and anonymously' speaks volumes about you as a person. It is an interesting topic and one I will bet few have really thought about. Would you accept the blood of a murderer or rapist if it would save your life? Great question to think about, ethically.

In my humble opinion, if ur doing something as thoughtful as donating blood, it shouldnt matter where the blood goes, but the fact that ur saving a life. A life is a life, what each person does with that life is something completely diff.

I would want preferrential treatment to be given to law-abiding citizens. If none need my blood, then the vicious criminal can have it. Maybe he might think twice about being a criminal when his life is saved by an act of compassion. Not that I'd let him out of jail... let him rot in his cell.

when you donate your blood. it goes to the blood bank. no one has any power over where it goes or who gets your blood! and beside,
hopefully by giving criminals some of the good people's blood, they get to be a better person! :) look at it that way

They have the right to be treated fairly and humanly do they not?

I may have an issue if it was my blood given to a man who murdered my family, but I think I would be the one in jail for killing that man. Instant Justice!

They have as much right to medical care as anyone else, so I guess I couldn't complain if my blood was given to a criminal.

Doesn't make a difference if it is plentiful. But I would rather them give it to a mother in need rather than a multiple murderer.

This pretty much applies to any sort of charity... it's entirely possible that anything you give freely could be misused (at least in your opinion), but you have to remember that you can't be held responsible for someone else's actions, gross negligence notwithstanding.

When I give blood, I specifically ask for it to be given to criminals.

the principle here is that giving blood is to give life to other human what ever he was good or bad because, god and only god who have the wright to decide who live and who dies, in Islam , the quran says who give life to human like he gave life to all humans, and if it goes to a bad person who know maybe god will forgive him and give him mercy.
