I got a part-time job around February so I can get some pocket change to live a little. So now I go to Shogun (very nice Japanese restaurant, if you've never been) at least twice a month with my friends. I enjoy their company as well as the wonderful food (Japanese is my favorite) but I'm not rich and my dad thinks I should save my money for more important things. (By the way, my best friend and the girl I like always go to Shogun with me) What do you think?

Its all about balance. I'm an advocate of enjoying life to the full, but not squandering the chance to set yourself up for the future. I made the mistake of living a little to frivolously when i was younger, and regret not having saved a few more dollars here and there. Its important for you to establish financial goals for yourself, so that the day you want to be independent of your family you can. Set goals to save for, but always put a little aside for fun. Whenever temptation strikes to spend a little more than you think you should, just imagine how unhappy you would be still living at home at 25!

Im quite young, when i got a part time job i spent like you did. However its time for me to go to college, and i wish i had a little more money to for college. Why dont you just make a savings account and put some money in there once a paycheck. That way you can have money for spending and money for saving

If you have every thing you need then continue on with your Japanese frenzy. If you are crying to dad for money than you probably need to alter your spending habits.

I don't think twice a month is too often to treat yourself! You go to work so you can play! (Or at least I do!)
