Good answer Vince, but if she was 12, would she understand it?
I think it's how we look and behave. Everyone's different and they have their own set of unique characters and talents that others don't possess. That's the inner difference and the outer difference..well, that's our body and eveyone's got a different body.

You imagine, you're 12? But how old you feel? That's what tells us how old we are. People are all different, in terms of attitudes, opinions, personality, upbringing, morals or lack of, (and of course some morals are bad and others are good, but nobody will admit to having bad ones, even if they do have bad ones, whcih is a clue I'm not one who has bad ones. If I did, what I just said on that matter, would've been admiting it.), height, appearance, thougths, drinking and smoking or not, inside character, beliefs. Therse are the ways in which people are all different. But in a sense, we're all the same, too. You see, we all have attiudes, thoughts, opionions, ect, arms, legs, eyes, heads, bodies, we all consume some kind of liquid, all have feeligns. I could perhaps go on and on, but I have neither the time nor the room for that much text. I do hope you understand, what I just said.

Yer mind sets you apart from all others, thought cannot be duplicated, and yer thoughts are unique, just as mine are and my neighbors cat's are, individual thought which follow different patterns is what sets us all apart most of all.

And yes Kripa, these days a city dwelling 12 year old probably would understand it, and may know more about it that some 20 year olds.

Well, it does boil down to genes. But on a practical level, the proteins that are encoded by those genes are the things that make us different. Let's just say that out of all the many thousands of proteins that make up your body, a few are different, and only in small ways. When you and I were fetuses, let's say, one protein expressed more in you than in me, resulting in differences in eye color. Another gene your body expressed was a slightly altered protein than the one I have, resulting in different hair color. You could pick up many examples out of a list, each of them going back to a protein and, eventually, a gene.

It's the combination of all these little changes that makes us different. And these differences simply came from mutations in our genes passed on from our ancestors. Bottom line, there's no simple answer except to say that your proteins are different than mine, but only in small ways.

it is not only our genes but also the environment in which we are brought up, and the way we ourselves think. We may both be brought up with the same set of genes but if are placed in different environments we react differently to situations. Some people with criminal genes(Yes, there's a different gene set) are known to lead a perfectly normal life, if they have been brought up in a normal environment..

First of all we r born as same as humans. But after sometime according to our language, lifestyle and behaviour changes the people unique from each and other.
As lord buddha said (This is in Pali language)
"Najajja wasalo hothi - Najajja hothi Brahmano - Kammano wasalo hothi - Kammano hothi Brahmano"
(No one born as a Brahmin or low castein, omly the behaviour of that person makes him as a Brahmin or a low castein)
