if graphics are not a concern for you, go back to some of the classics.

-Brief list.

Super Nintendo: Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire II, Lufia II, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V (was ok), Final Fantasy VI, Tactics Ogre (not bad), Treasure of the Rudras (Squaresoft), Seiken Densetsu 2, Seiken Densetsu III, Star Ocean, Tales of Phantasia, Secret of Evermore, Super Mario RPG, Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, Zelda 3, Illusion of Gaia (illusion).

Genesis: Landstalker (ok-prequel to PSX-Alundra), Phantasy Star IV, Beyond Oasis....genesis kinda slacked on rpgs.

Those are not complete lists, and compile only those two systems, as there are plenty on the nes, atari, intellivision, and other systems others can compliment to the rest.

Note: America never saw: Treasure of the Rudras, Seiken Densetsu III, (secret of mana series), and the first Star Ocean. Tales of Phantasia can be purchased on Playstation or GBA, and Final Fantasy V done so on Playstation and DS soon (I believe).

Hope that helps.

There's a couple good ones which I enjoyed such as:

Final Fantasy VIII (FF7)
Final Fantasy X (FF10)
Xenogears
Star Ocean: The Second Story

They're all for PSX so they shouldn't cost that much and should provide a lot of entertainment.

Final Fantasy X is definitely a good buy... Nice gameplay and comes with a great story too...

Shadow Hearts: From the New World is also nice... not on par with the FF games in terms of characters, but definitely exciting gameplay...

Xenosaga Episode 1 is also fun... Amazing graphics and unique gameplay...

And, yes, we're all waiting for FF XII!!!!!!!!!!!

If you enjoy playing solo, try Diablo 2. If you want to play with other people, you can do that on Diablo 2, and also try Everquest, Runescape and World of Warcraft. WoW has a monthly fee, not sure about the others...

Tales of Symphonia is great if you have a gamecube. It has a great plot, tons of endings and plot twists along the way. You can build up a love for a party member and find out more about them.
