I was U2's fan since they first came out a long time ago. I admired the guy for what he is doing, but it sure makes some of us that are struggling hated him for what he is doing. Personally, I wouldn't have mind working for him doing just what he is trying to for the third world. some of us hated him just because they don't realized that the folks he is helping are 250 times doing far worse than the poorest people in America. We should be grateful for what God gave us, and that he gave us the exact kind of people like bono who actually has the guts to do what's right. Our best paid politicians don't even have the charisma that this guy has to help people who are in need of help when it comes to it.

Love his music ,his group esp like the impromptu concert video where they with no prior planning set up the band on a rooftop and people just come in droves but finally the police makes them stop. Its admirable whenever a celebrity uses their status to do good and draw the world's attention to serious needs. Sometimes I think he gets a bit long winded about it esp when they-U2 just finished awesome playing and he by talking of the hunger and plight of the Africans takes the moment away from the band and the music. There is so much hunger and other miseries in the world and we should, are obligated through our connectivity to all humans to act in order to lessen but we mustn't
allow it to block beauty, joy and laughter for it is these things that give us some balance and keep us sane.

I believe that he is on a publicity kick. Quincy Jones, Lionel Ritchey, Michael Jackson wrote the song "We Are The World" and had other celebreties join them in singing. Millions of dollars was supposedly sent to Africa from the proceeds. Hmm, wonder why all of these millions and millions and millions of dollars are going over there....and have been for a number of years, yet they are no closer than they were back in the 1950s!!! Kinda makes you stop and think - just another celebrity doing the same ol' thing over and over and over again. Save your money and give to the Red Cross for the United States!!!

I admire the guy for being out there and working towards what a lot of you think is an impossible result. I don't have any knowledge of his personal approach to charity but I'll bet he has one. Beyond that what do you figure his time is worth? How about his influence and access? Any of your preachers hobknobbing with the heads of state for any country?

I think he has his head up his butt. Removing poverty from this world would take more effort than most people would ever be willing to give.
It would mean no huge buildings, no 8 lane highways, no SUVs,
no in-depth school system, no huge pay raises by the government or big corporations. It would mean no computer games, Xbox and to keep from running on and on, no luxuries at all, period for any one on earth. So, how many would you find willing to go backward in order to bring others forward. Just not enough.

He totally rocks to me in every single way. He is definately a brilliant man. He completely makes wonderful music. He can definately make a great song. But he's also changed to world just by his words! He can do something to make a difference in the world and he goes out there and does it. He sets a way good example to everyone. He totally inspires me and is my hero.

Heart is in the right place but he is very misguided. He is trying to help a continent that has no desire to help itself. Africa has been a financial burden to the world for hundreds of years. Comparing his efforts to the big picture it's like trying to pour an ocean into a cup.

I think He's a Hypocrite, pretending to worship Jesus meanwhile collecting millions of dollars.
Do You really think He give's a HOOT about peasants like Us? Personally I think JESUS is talented and brilliant. Have a nice day. :)

If he really wanted to solve poverty he could start by gathering his rich buddies and pitch in. In the US 1% control 36% of the wealth and it worse in the rest of the world. Its kinda hard to listen to such hypocrisy especially when the power to change it is really in his and those like him.
