Other than Zidane himself, nobody in this world could tell the true reason. Not even Materazzi.
However, one thing .... could have been objectively inferred.
Zidane did not have his team in mind at the time when he bashed his head into Materazi's chest.
He acted on his own interest instead of his team's interest...
He must have realised at the time that he was of critical importance to his team and yet he acted on his own accord ... be it a moment of anger or what ...
