Looking for work in the South, plenty of experience, pay should be around 50K a year

Social work is rarely seen in the regular job site. Mostly because these sites charge fees while non-profit orgs are usually tight on the budget. Similarly headhunters rarely get work from non-profits because once again the budget is never there for recruitment.
So that effectively takes out job sites and recruiters as venues for finding work for you.
You might want to try craigslist, which is free, there might be some postings there.
You also might want to check out the job listing in friendster and linked in (social networking sites). But better yet sign up into these network and use it as a way to boradcast your availability, credentials to friends and acquaintances.
You might also want to make the rounds of universities. Non-profits regularly use university people because they assume there will be kids who are not expecting much in terms of compensation. Asking different faculty and the job placement office might reveal who is hiring.

You can also try state governments.
I may be able to interest you in a home based business. It's dealing with people on a daily basis with good communication and people skills. Initial pay will not be 50k; however, 50k is not hard to obtain.

I have an MSW and you just won't find that kind of money in the South. I only make 38,000.
Your best bet is for-profit hospitals and elderly care.
