Step by carefully-planned step to achieve your goals, or moment to moment, as it happens?

Why do you live this way? Advantages? Drawbacks?

easily, as-it-happens!

for most of my life, i've been happy go lucky. whatever occurs in life, i've enjoyed meeting and greeting it. i have no clue where this trait came from, none of my siblings display it... (that would be the bleating of the black sheep you hear: ME!) but i could be labeled the prototype procrastinator, and the last person i know to make a list of things to do. i feel that plans can be constraining at times, and my ability to make the best of whatever happens so far has given me the confidence that i will be able to continue to do so. the best indicator of success for me is that i'm comfortable in a situation... NOT that i've carefully thought things through (what if i'm wrong?)

the classic drawback to an unplanned existence is that you may never know exactly what you're capable of, if you don't set a goal to try for it. perhaps i don't enjoy making long-range plans (especially true in my work life) because it's more important to me to be comfortable where and when i am now.

i live this way because it works for me, and any lost successes i might have missed are more than made up for by the enjoyment and surprise that the beautiful unexpected things in my life have shown me!

Well, I would have to say a little of both, but more day to day.. the long range plans give me a differnet sort of focus, but are kept very very flexible.. and maybe one of my long term plans was to achieve the freedom to be able to go with the flow.. I have done some work with mindfulness, moment to moment awareness and revert to it occassionally, but it is maybe too intense a way to live..

I have a 1 year, 5 year 10 year 15 year goal and Retirement goals planned out. I write them down, I update them regularly. I review them to see what I am doing now fits into any of my goals and who it helps me achieve my goals.

I find that I usually give myself too much time. I achieved my 10 year goal in 9 years and my 15 year goal in 10 years. Maybe I can retire soon.

Ever since i was little i knew what my life plan was going to be when i got out of High School...I planned to join the military...and blah...all that jazz...(it's a long plan)...i plan to make the military my career...but NE ways...the advantages of it is that now that I've graduated i feel good knowing i know what i want to do with my life, unlike my friends that don't have that much of a clue...i feel stable and achieved...
