What are the advantages and disadvantages of plastic surgeries?

There are so many advantages for plastic surgery.
That said there are also many disadvantages.

It depends a lot on the individual, the type of plastic surgery being done, why it is being done (emotional, physical scarring, correction), who is doing it, where it is being done, I think you get the idea!

Most importantly is the why. If it is because of a trauma or accident (fire, cancer etc) then of course there can only be advantages!

If it is purely emotional/cosmetic there needs to be a lot of thought, research and counselling to be done as it is a very painful experience and unless you are going in to it for all the right reasons you could potentially be left miserable and wanting more as what you tried to "fix" didn't make you feel as good as you thought it would. What I guess I am trying to say is make sure that it is done for the right reasons and not a case of "when this is done I will be happy with myself". If this is the case and the reasons are low self esteem etc then no amount of plastic surgery will cure that!

I have had breast augmentation done, when I was 18 years old and never once regretted the decision. I was well informed about different techniques, methods, doctors, complications etc and did a lot of soul searching first.

If this is cosmetic, remember that surgery won't make any of your problems go away.

Pain, rehab time and the chances of infection are greater than you may think. What if one side comes out different than the other, lots of times two doctors work on one patient at the same time, one on each side using different techniques.

Sometimes you go in for a nose job and instead they do your eyes because you were prepped wrong or some other staff error.

The wands for liposuction needs to be those that do not pierce through the tissue, I believe they need to be very blunt or round tipped. People almost die because of blood loss after routine procedures.

Should you decide to have surgery, please select a full service facility similar to a hospital just in case. Take someone you trust with you and have them remind the staff exactly what you're having done.

Well, advantages-may lift your self esteem a little...but dont turn to it to totally change your life...such as If I had a better nose then guys wouldnt break up with me....stupid stuff like that

dis-advantages--you could die, they could mess up and scar you (seen it on maury), you might not like it afterwards, you could get an infection, you might become addicted, it can happen and does frequently, people think O Well, maybe i can just fix my nose, well, i dont really like my lips, and on and on until they look like a COMPLETELY different person (think how your parents would feel) thats all i can think of at the moment

I would just try to be happy with what god gave you
however if i had an accident and there was plastic surgery to correct it i would probably do it, example-cleft palate

advantage - there is a possibility that you will gain the desired look you have always wanted...
disadvantages- 1.once you get a surgery completed, you need to keep getting them done to sustain the look
2. they are highly addictive,
3. many doctors out there who arent official and have no training what so ever, they just want your money
4. those doctors can really screw up your face and put you in a worst position ...there are many horror stories of plastic surgeries gone wrong...check the web...
