I use my eye muscles first, to see the ball. Then my arm muscles to move the bat and leg muscles for follow thru and balance so I don't get tied in a knot. I don't know where my back muscles come into play in the order I mentioned, but they always seem a little sore the next day, so I know I use them, too.

I myself use my shoulders first, then my hips. My shoulders bring the bat without moving my arms, at the same time my hips bring my body around. It's not a home run swing but it is a get on base swing.
