We just happend to lose one of the best soccer players that ever blessed the ball and watching jim leave like that almost broke my heart. I mean, it was intentional, but c'mon it's his last game and who knows what Materazzi said to him. Can anyone just help me out with why Zidane? why?

he is France's best player and Italy said something to get him out, its frikkin obvious. plus I bet Matt was expecting to get hit, and he wanted to get hit.

Honestly speaking, I'm happy that Italy won . But it was totally uncalled for what Zidane did doesn't matter what the opposing player said to him . All and all it was a trash talking going on between them , there's no need to get over the edge like that .

BTW , I was a big fan of Deschamps and Lizarazu . France is not the same without Deschamps , and I think they will miss : Desailly, Lizarazu, Thuram and Zidane .

According to Wikipedia : "After a brief lip reading done by experts on replays of the incident it became evident that Materazzi provoked Zidane by calling him a terrorist"

i agree with u.. its just sad to lose a player like Zidane in this horrible way.. Matterazzi ofcourse said something very very bad to Zidane..

But I wish Zidane didnt do that headbutt.. i'm not France fan but i so love zidane b/c he is a living LEGEND i love the way he plays (plus im a real madrid fan).

i know what you mean. honestly part of me wanted to see Zidane holding the world cup. it would be a great ending for his carreer.

He really has issues with his temper.

Whatever was said, and they were BOTH talking trash I am sure, it didn't merit a violent response like that.....

I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone with such arrogance and irresponsibility....He will live to regret that a long time, and I feel it cost him the game....Do you believe in bad karma?

simple. because he could not control his temper. it doesn't matter what materazzi said to him. he knew the penalty for what he did yet, he did it anyways. it is very disappointing to see his amazing career to end on such a sour note.

i'm disappointed too. why didn't he keep his cool until the end of the match then punch the sucker out afterward? it was really upsetting.
