If school prayer is allowed, then it MUST be school prayer for everybody, Christian or not. Muslim students would have to be allowed to pray their 5 times a day. Students who follow pagan traditions would have to be allowed their ceremonies and prayers. Room would have to be made in the school day for traditional Native American dances and African tribal rituals.

I think the main reasons school prayer is not allowed are (a) that it would be very difficult in a public school to make sure every spiritual tradition was given absolutely equal consideration, and (b) by the time all these prayers were finished, there would be no time left for learning anything else. It's an impractical proposition.

But in spite of this, as long as there are final exams, there WILL be prayer in schools. ;-)

I have no problem with prayer in schools; however, I am also mindful of the fact that there are those persons who do not subscribe to a particular religious belief and are offended by prayer in schools.

My suggestion is that each school should have a room or designated place/time where students could go and pray as they so choose. For example. if there is someone who needs a prayer rug, then so be it. Those not wishing to participate in prayer time would (or should) not be affected by this type of arrangement.

I wouldn't mind if they allowed prayer services in school. We tried to get a study hall period option where religious students could take part in discussion groups and prayer areas into our school and it was shot down by the school administration but to answer your question i wouldn't have minded at all. I think it is important to take time out of your day to pray to whatever god you believe in whether or not I believe in that same god or not.

Good question. I wonder how happy they'd be about allowing students to lay down prayer rugs several times a day.

Right. I can't believe they get upset about removing the bible from the government. People actually have other beliefs than them!! I also find it funny that they care about aborted fetuses, but don't care about global warming. That could kill millions!!
