I don't mean this in an offensive way I've heard this term thrown around and I honestly have no idea what it means. Is it a derogitory (sp?) term?

The term "fag hag" does not generally carry the same negative connotations that "fag" would. The term is used, without the intent to insult, by both gay men and their female admirers. Some women (such as comedian Margaret Cho and Jessie from the UFN Show podcast) will proudly declare themselves to be fag hags.

I'd agree with others who have answered your question, but I'd add that the term, 'F a g H a g', is not an offensive term but one used endearingly in referencing our [close] straight, female friends.
It sounds crude and insulting and that's what makes it unique. It's just the opposite.
There are few women who will be considered one of our
'F a g H a g s'.
They are indeed our special girls and we luv 'em all!

F.a.g. h.a.g used to refer to a woman hanging out with gay men only to be interested in having a sexual relationship with them. Anymore it has become a term of endearment with a straight woman hanging out with gay men, but primarily her gay best freind. The two often have an intimate friendship...key word "friendship"...no sex. There is also such a thing as a drag hag. Same description but exchange gay guy for drag queen.

what fag hag use to mean is that when a women is seriously into ******* gay men but now I think the term is more general and means that when a straight women hangs out with gay men all the time.

This is an old term used by single men who are looking for relations with single women and find out these women like to hang around with gay men. I think women who like to hang around with them don't feel pressured or threatened by these men.

f*g hag isn't a bad term. it means a straight girl who is usually best friends with a gay male, and has a large group of gay males friends. i prefer the term fruit fly, it seems nicer.

It's generally used to describe straight women who have the hots for gay men...or who at least just like to hang around with them or in gay men's bars.

Well, it really doesn't mean a straight woman has the "hots" for gay men, it just means she's a single, heterosexual woman who has a lot of male friends who are gay.
