Have a little better impluse control for starters. He will live to regret that for a very long time. I think it created bad karma for France....

No I totally think Zidane acted irrationally, against materazzi...he should have kept his cool regardless of the racist remark.....In anycase, the game was more or less even....with more french possession in the final 30 minutes....and great attempt for a goal by Zidane.....if he would have scored..that would have been the ultimate way to retire from the sport........Materazzi shouldn't have said what he said...quoting from French TV, "****** Arab Terrorist..." that was not cool at all and surely ignited Zidane......Cool or no Cool, Zidane should have answered him back, keep his cool and stay in the game....that cost him his MVP and ended his career in a low point.......not very classy for his level.....

I think Zidane at that moment, being almost the peak of his carreer, pulling a stunt like that, what would be called in Football as "Unnecessary roughness", he should have kept it to level.
Then again, I think that is a trademark on most of Real Madrid's players, as so did portuguese Luis Figo on the match against England, which he used the same headbutt on an english player, getting a yellow card for his unsportmanship.
Zidane should have taken it less aggresively, then France would have had perhaps a better chance on winning the cup. He just threw the french team's moral to the floor.

Deserved a headbutt? He was probably just talking smack. If Zidane can't handle his smack get out of the kitchen or field which happily he did. Zidane is Zidane there will only be one Zidane that would of headbutted Materazzi idiotically.

materazzi didn't deserve a headbutt, they were both talking trash, and that asshole zidane decided to act like a child and hit him. Zidane got less than what he derseved.
if i was zidane, i would have thought it through, and just insulted him back, and went on w/ the game.

he did...matterazzi is known as a bad guy...a provoker...if zidane did that he had a reason even though i think a champ should never react like that in front of millions of people
