I have heard people telling me that their ancestors (not only blacks but Asians were as well) were brought to America by force and B I T C H about it all the time. This may be true, but YOU as a person have free choice so you are free to return to your home country if you want. Think about your life if your ancestors had not been brought to America....what then?

BTW, I am not white but a minority myself...I am just sick of hearing this BULLSH*T...any thoughts?

Glad to see that you guys like my question.

BTW, I worked 2 jobs to go to college so that I could get myself out of the whole blaming cycle (I got 3 college degrees on academic scholarships - quit complaining about the past and look to the future instead) ....quit b i t c hing and get yourself some education to improve your lot! Better use of your time.

For people in a similar situation, if you work hard, success is just round the corner...you may have it harder than others, but if you have the determination and talent to succeed, it should not stand in the way for long. Good luck!

To Ami

That is not true that people have no where else to go. If foreigners can emigrate to the US, Americans can give up their citizenship and emigrate elsewhere to...you just have to go through the formal procedures

honestly.... I agree with you. If you don't like it here leave... that is how I've always felt. I understand that once upon a time your ANCESTORS were forced to come here however this is a different time and place. You have to do what you need to do to be where you want to be. I understand that some people have advantages to succeed but instead of constantly complaining about it try and change your circumstances. If you want out of the ghetto try to get out... use the military for 2-4 years if you have to... what ever it takes... and if you still think that this place is sooo bad then figure out a way to leave... or... suck it up. The slave masters didn't beat you personally so unless you have some strange circumstance where you can feel 1st hand the pain and suffering of your anscestors... how 'bout you concentrate on living your life the best you can and move on

but that is just me

Free will does not exist. You are not free to do more than your resources permit, for example. You are only free to do what society has proscribed as being within your budget, and that is a decision made by society not by an individual.

There are other constraints - the law being the most obvious. Although you technically can violate the law (and many millions of Americans have), the consequences are often far greater than the potential benefit. If we assume a person to be of sound mind and judgement, we must assume they would not violate a law merely for their own convenience.

Lastly, it is irrational to ask a person to pay twice for the same thing, particularly if they are returning the goods. If you return a lamp to the store, you don't expect the store to charge you the cost of the lamp to do so. So if these people want to return what they see as faulty goods, who should pay? The store would return the money for defective goods, but would America be willing to do the same?

(Particularly as 95% of America's economy depends on said minorities continuing to work in the US. If more than a small fraction left, America would be incapable of supporting itself.)

The point is America IS their home country so they should not be bitching! And NO, they do not have another country to return to, since ANYONE who was BORN here is American. Where their ancestors came from or how they got here makes no never mind! Other countries have immigration laws too, so the whole idea of AMERICANS "returning" to some imaginary native homeland from whence their ancestors came is not only ludicrous, but simply NOT possible. Italian-Americans are foreigners to Italy, French-Americans are foreigners to France, Japanese-Americans are foreigners to Japan, African-Americans are foreigners to Africa, etc...etc...etc.....People who were born in America have nowhere to "go back" to. Only foreigners who become naturalized US citizens have the option of returning to their "home country".

Response:

What formal procedures are you talking about?? America is the only place which GIVES everything away. Name one place where Americans should/can go and give up their citizenship and just be allowed to "emigrate"??? Most places, those "formal procedures" you are talking about involve proving to some government that you are either married to a native or have been placed there because of your employer. Just because we have liberal immigration policies does not mean everybody else grants US the same rights. They don't!

I'm sure everyone's ancestors were abused one way or another along the family tree. I've found that the ones constantly bringing it up are trying to get some sort of compensation. That's ironic, for one, because they weren't actually there and they weren't the ones that were wronged, and two, the ones they are trying to receive some sort of compensation from weren't there either and have done nothing wrong. That's like suing someone now whose great, great grandfather wronged in your family 200 years ago. We can't help what our ancestors did, no one can. But to repeatedly bring it up, instead of letting it be the past that it is, is foolish. They are simply trying to use the situation to their advantage to get a little money or open some doors. They didn't know there ancestors any more than we know ours, they could have deserved whatever happened to them, as could have mine. No one will ever know.

I agree with your thoughts. I am native american and if anyone could find blame I believe I could. My ancestors were forced to march the Trail of Tears yet I don't look at white people today and think bad thoughts on them. Victim ideaology is just another way to get attention. People need to get over these thoughts and be happy they live in America, the land of the free. I am much happier here than say Iraq or Afghanistan.

I feel Sorry for you. It is sad you have lost all of sense of true freedom. Past injustices can not be undone just by " going back ". You need to travel a bit. I am a proud American but not stupid to believe our way is the only & best way. The question you should focus on is " Think about your life if your ancestors had not been brought to America....what then. " Now, that is deep question with endless possiblities.
