I read somewhere of an area in the USA that recently received freak reception of radio programmes that supposedly had been transmitted many years previously. Does anyone know if this actually occured, and if so, was there any explanation as to how this could happen?

Someone probably recorded the radio then (illegally) transmitted it themselves to freak some people out.

There are strange phenomena that have be known to occur that might be related. I believe that it has something to do with the magnetic field of the earth. Certain sounds or images have been known to get trapped in specific location due to magnetic phenomena that are not well understood. These "natural recordings" are often mistaken for ghosts or spirits. I do not know too much about the physics but it is something that I have heard of before.

As a psychic medium... I've heard news reports that woke me on my clock radio more than once, that made me keep on listening for follow ups, because it was big news, but nothing came for a day or two, and then, it was new news! No one else heard or knew, until then, whilst I had worried on it for days.

Premonitions come in various ways... this was a new way to me, after a lifetime of various other ways of receiving them, when I moved to where I am now living, two years ago.

Many years ago an uncle of mine was a Ham Radio operator.
One very hot day he was sending a Normal "CQ" call ... then very faintly we herd HIM call ..!! ..All we think happened was our signal went around the Earth ..This only happened once. ..I herd some think that some radio signals get trapped in the atmosphere and when the Sun-spot cycle is High they are released.!
This i find hard too take in... but iv got a open mind on it.

There are radio stations that replay these shows on a regular basis. Probably someone with a good imagination.

No this is just due to the number of repeats on British TV
