Assume it would only take you 10 hours of work to find it. I am thinking of this after watching Treasure Hunters.

When someone gets more than $ 100/- per hour, in a regular 8-hours-a-day job, would that someone bother to ?!

Such a hunt for a thousand dollars in a metro city implies there are risks taken during it's search--and the prize simply isn't worth taking such risks. The search sounds like an example of people exploitation.

$1,000 is not worth it to me. Sure, it is more than I make in a week, but if I knew about the cash, most everyone else would too. Too much competition for me. Now, if it were $100,000 or more, then I would be right in there with everyone else.
