FIRST: Make sure she doesnt already have independant plans.

Nothing ruins a 21st birthday party like wanting to goto the bar with friends and then discovering your parents have plans for you.

Well, least thats what I heard.

If she has no intrest in drinking....

How about a small presentation on what she has done and what she means to you, and how many good things she has brought to your life.

I'm turning twenty on this year too. You should definitely have a party organised. discuss with her if or what baby pics will be on display. Let her decide the guest list. Just really make a big deal about her, make her feel extra special. Send her for beauty treatments that morning so she feels extra beautiful that night.

When my daughter turns 21, i will make a video of pictures of the two of us as she was growing up. the music in the background will be "You Belong To Me" by Dean Martin.

Well, we'd need to know more about your daughter, what she likes, what she has always wanted for a special gift, etc. Perhaps you can ask her.

If you want to keep it a surprise, ask a friend of hers or see if you can surprise her with a car or vacation (If you are financially able). But I think the best course is just to ask her and go from there.

Well, I don't know your daughter's likes and dislikes but I will share something my daughter and I did together and enjoyed very much! My daughter's birthday is only one week after mine so we decided to celebrate together and we rented a hotel room, went to a movie and shopping, brought our favorite meal (Chinese food) back to the hotel with us and just shared the night together in a nice room. We enjoyed it alot...we felt special and it was just our own little birthday party of sorts!

You are a good mom i think.I dont have any idea though to share coz im away with my mom since i was 18.But im surre she will appreciate any gift or any loving gestures coming from you.
Given chance i would like my mom and me alone for the whole day atleast.
Enjoy each other!

Have a surprise party in a hall. Or make a special getaway. Maybe hang out at a spa.

Why don't you girls travel cross-country together? I would love if my mom does that with me when I turn 21 too... Make it like a 2 weeks trip or something... That'd be awesome!

If the two of you are party type of people, take her on a weekend trip to Vegas. Or, take her on a trip to another country. If these are out of your price range, take her to a day spa and get her pampered, then, take her to buy a nice outfit and take her to a fancy restaurant.
