In the final minutes of extra time, Zidane deliberately headbutted an italian player in the stomach and got a straight red card. Although it is arguable that Zidane was being provoked, resorting to violence like headbutting is NO excuse, especially on a stage as big as this.
Since Zidane is retiring from all competitive football after this finals, his sending off is a disgraceful, ugly way to end such a distinguished career.

Well, late in the second half, an Italian player said something to him. Zidane got mad so he turned around walked toward the Italian player
then, Zidane rammed his head first in the chest. The Italian player when flying backward and landed on the ground. It was cool, but sad at the same time.

Don't listen to some of the biased people here. You see, Italy is a dirty team, and despite many people who will disagree, its true. Italy seeing they could not beat France, went 'headhunting'. And of course who will they strike at then the player of the tournament. I would have preferred if Zidane had head-butted Materazzi alot harder, without any attention of the officials. Give them a taste of their own medicine

Matterazzi and Zidane were tradeing insults throughout the the game, and zidane got pissed and headbutted him like the *** he is (zidane, not Matterazzi). the ref then gave him a red card

the Ugly Exit of Zidane is because he got red carded for heading in the chest of a italian defender. if you look for the hightlight of the game, you'll see what he did.

He headbutted Materazzi after Matt was talking trash to get Z pi$$ed off and hit him. Italy was planning to use that cheat to get him out DAMIT!
