I have a document saved as a publisher file that I need to turn into a word file - is there an easy way to do that that anybody knows about? I would be most grateful if someone could help me!

Try doing a Save As. In the Save Type box you might be able to choose Word (.doc) You may lose some formatting.

It depends what your Publisher document consists of. If it is purely text, then you can open it in Publisher and save it as a Word file (or as a Rich Text Format file). If it contains graphics and WordArt, then there is no easy way of preserving the look of the document. I suspect the same would apply if the text in the document were contained in frames that weren't linked.

If you wish to recreate the document in Word, preserving the formatting and positioning of the text and including any graphics in the Publisher file, then you have a long and tedious job ahead of you. You will need to first save the text of the document as a Word file, open that file in Word and then copy and paste any graphics individually from the Publisher file to the Word file. Depending on the complexity of the Publisher file, you may find it is impossible to recreate it exactly in Word.

Something you might try as well (I have not tried it) is to save the Publisher file as an HTML file and then to open it in Word and resave as a Word document. I have not tried this and I think that this may well cause all sorts of problems with arrangement of text and graphics.

If you do not have Microsoft Publisher installed, then I think there is no way!

If it's just text then cutting and pasting will do the trick. If there are images in the document then things start to get messy. Just out of interest, why convert the file into Word in the first place? Publisher is a much more powerful program than Word.

Highlight the content of the file and "copy", then "paste" it into a new word document and save.

Hope that helps.

Open both publisher and word then simply cut and paste form one to the other
