When you open the capsule, loose powder, or tiny medicine pellets come out. This is put together this way to make the medicine dissolve faster once the outer covering has melted. A tablet also has the funny "mediciney" taste, and the capsule doesn't. It is a difference of personal preference.

Tablets are a solid material with the active ingredient mixed throughout. Capsules have the medicine inside a plastic coating. Tablets simply dissolve when they get wet, allowing the medicine spread through your digestive system to be absorbed through the intestines. The plastic coating on capsules will dissolve in the stomach, ensuring all the medicine makes it into the stomach, where it will then go into the intestines to be absorbed. There is not much difference, but capsules have a greater placebo effect than tablets, so it is possible the capsules will make it feel as though they work better.

A capsule has a powder, pellets, liquid, or gel inside.
Depending on the medication you can take a capsule by spreading apart the two parts and removing the material inside.
As a nurse I do this all the time.
Medication labels and instructions state if you can do this or not.
If there is any question ask your Doc, nurse, or pharmacist.

It depends on what the medication is. Some are meant to be kept in the capsule so the medicine reaches the correct place before it is released. Ask a pharmacist.

You answered your own question. You cant take a capsule w/o the cover, because w/o the cover it is just the contents inside.

A tablet is like a pill that is perfectly stuffed like a...uh...tabel and you can't move the insides around...and a capsule is like a baby's rattle, you can shake it and stuff can move around inside.
