nope. glad to see detroit clearing house a little. he helped detroit win but he was getting too old . the wings need more youth and speed. i hope shanny does good in new york. new york takes older players who are past their peak. i think the wings needto get more cheaper younger players . shanny is getting up there in years and will be retiring soon anyway so it is not a complete loss here for me as a faithful wing fan.

I feel sad for the Wings fan. I'm upset about his move and i think he just committed an error to go with the Rangers. The past told us that NY are just aw full when it come to signing free agent. I don't understand Shanahan. Even Montreal offer him a better deal and he didn't do it. For a real Canadian player, it's a deception for me to see him in the US uniform!

Didn't know about the move until I read your question. Being a ranger fan this is great, but I don't like the idea of adding so many veterans.
I want some youth so the rangers have some sort of long-term foundation.
But hopefully, he can spark some more life into the rangers and they can get deeper into the playoffs instead of getting embarassed in the opening round.

As a diehard Ranger fan since the age of 5 (1991), I am excited, but a little leery in the wake of Kurri, Fleury and Lindros. However, I see Shanny on a unit with Prucha and Cullen (first line ain't broke, don't fix it), and this means great things for all 3 players.

I think the Red Wings are in for a big surprise without Shanahan or Yzerman. There are a few of the Red Wings that will have to step up to the plate and take the team.

As a Ranger fan, I love it. They are going to have a great power play this year with Shanahan and Jagr on the wings.

As a rangers fan I am bit ambivalent about this...will he score another 40 g 42 a or will he take a tailspin into mediocracy which happened with Fleury and Kamensky...and Score 25 g 30 a...I am not so sure this will work out...

He was stolen from the Blues a long time ago for compensation from a deal with the Devils When we got Stevens. They just took him. At the time we had Brett Hull and Shanny, Adam Oats. We was a contender......not anymore.

Its to bad for Detroit. With Stevie Y retiring, and losing Shanny, Detroit will have to spend lots of money to fill the void.

I just heard the news today. He is one of my favorite players. It will be interesting though to see how the Wings do with some younger players on the team.
