Do your stretches every day and practice dance routines that you've learned. Anything is better then just once a year working out. Ask the girls at the camp to teach you techniques to develop your dancing skill.

If you really want to be good and make certain that you get a spot on this dance team, you really need to take dance lessons so you know a lot of steps and a lot of moves. A good dance teacher will also teach you the right technique. It's hard to learn something with the wrong technique, have it committed to memory and then have to learn how to do it the right way. So just start off with a good dance teacher who will teach you proper technique that you won't have to "unlearn".

Talk to the current members of the dance team, and get to know them, if you are friendly with them, they can find ways to help you, get better, that way, in two years when you can join the dance team, you will have a good chance of making the team.
