"Up the down Staircase"--deals with a first-year teacher's frustrations over idiotic school policies, inept administration, and burned-out teachers. Easy to read and still comically true.
Films--"Dead Poet's Society" and "Mr. Holland's Opus"
Also great, and a true story about an AP Calculus teacher--"Stand and Deliver"
