Now, hold on a second, here! You're saying two different things here!!! You're asking are women suppose to have hair on their chests?, and then you say that your friend doesn't want to wear a 2 pc suit, because of the hair on her stomach??? Anyway, women can have hair any place a man can, and most do, to some extent or the other! It isn't bad?! Just not any different that any other body area, if you don't want it, get rid of it! Shave, wax, lotions, etc. it's that simple,... or even electrolysis!!! We have a shop near to where I work called "Hair Today, Gone, Tomorrow!"
Some people are just hairier, than others....

If it worries her much she might want to go to her doctor or O.B.G.Y.N. she may have Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome.
One of the key problems for woman with PCOS is that they get facial hair or hair in spots that girls realy shouldn't.
Another factor is weight but not all woman with PCOS are over weight... I have a sister who is a toothpick who was diagnosed last year.
One of the things doctors do is to put them on the pill to regulate your hormone levels.
Found a description might be useful.
What are the symptoms of PCOS?
The most common symptoms of PCOS are an irregular period, infertility, increased hair growth and unusual weight gain, even with dieting or increased exercise. Women with PCOS will often go for months without a period and then start bleeding heavily for days. This occurs when the uterine lining has gotten too thick and the body must naturally shed it. Because PCOS disrupts ovulation it can be very difficult to become pregnant.
Other signs of PCOS include acne, high blood pressure, obesity, and abnormal facial and body hair growth (due to too much testosterone). One of the less recognizable symptoms of PCOS is depression, which can be misread as a bipolar illness. While depression stems from many factors, we think it is always a good idea to consider PCOS if patients have other symptoms. In some medical practices antidepressants are prescribed which do not alleviate the underlying issues and therefore are not very helpful.

Electrolysis will permanently remove it. Sometimes with the 1st visit or it may take a few. Electrolysis has come down in price lately if she can afford it at all. It is not common for a woman to have hair there, but she should also not be ashamed of it either.

yes...it's the secret men don't know about-hair in places super models don't.
We all have treasure trials. I have have a blond treasure trail that i think is hairier than most and I am very self consous of it too. the few dark hairs that are too far up I pluck.
I don't know what do do, you can't realistically shave or wax your stomach as a girl.
but let her know she is not alone.

It's not all that unusual...in high school a bunch of the cool girls were sitting around in choir talking about how they shaved their stomachs, tell her that. Shaving or a depilatory cream (like Nair) should take care of it.

It's not bad, but it's not typical. She probably just has more testosterone than the average woman. She should try bleaching it with creme bleach if it's dark or, if she can afford it, get electrolysis to get it removed.

Simply tell her to see a doctor. It could be a sign of a serious medical condition.
