Republicans select the laws they want to obey and respect

I dont believe abortion should be a form of birth control however:,

1) If a woman is raped she absolutely has the RIGHT to an abortion and not carry that fetus

2) If it is a case of incest a woman should abort the fetus

3) if a womans life is endangered the woman should abort the fetus

4) If a man and woman cannot support a child and had an unexpected pregnancy they have this right as well.

**** Abortion should not be abused as a form of birth control***

However there are circumstances that it should happen

Why cant republicans stop trying to control a womans body and stop shoving christianity down our throats.

If you hate americans laws THEN LEAVE MY COUNTRY

PS: Abortion is not murder. I had to make that clear. If it was these women would be in jail facing murder charges.

OH and you republicans are supposibly prolife yet you supprt every other form of artificial death. Accept it or leave !

First off, I strongly believe that we need to change the language that is used in this debate. It is very misleading and dangerous to use the terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice." This plays exactly into the propaganda and deception that the Republican Party is trying to spread. The proper terms should be "pro-choice" and "anti-choice." Democrats are not anti-life as their term suggests. We, in fact, support policies that not only promote life on a general level, but also promote the overall quality of life. Republicans are the ones that create a culture that is disrespectful to life. Republican members of Congress actually voted on a bill that would allow the death penalty for teenagers! Yet they forgive their own youthful transgressions (such as Bush's alcoholism) by claiming that they were "young and immature."
Republicans talk about respecting life, yet they support war, resist stem cell research that would provide hope and opportunity to so many people inflicted with life threatening illnesses. They talk about respecting life, yet 11 million children are without health insurance and even more mothers, fathers, and working people are without access to health care. They speak of life, yet support policies that further degrade the poor, the people who most need assistance, while further promoting the wealthy. They insist on children being brought into this world and then don't support the social services that a family might need in order to adequately care for the child. If you are anti-choice (or pro-life as they believe) then you have no business opposing social programs.

It amazes me that Democrats are known as the party that supports big government, yet Republicans are the ones that want to control all aspects of one's personal life including end of life decisions, pregnancy decisions, marital choices, etc. You can't get much bigger and more big brother than that! Democrats are about personal freedoms and enhancing the quality of life for all Americans. Republicans are anti-choice...WE are pro-life!

It's funny how every pro-life person who answered this question types in complete sentences, spells correctly, and actually makes a point, and almost everyone on the pro-choice side shoots out a one sentence, misspelled, off the cuff answer. Maybe that's one reason why no one takes these responses seriously.

Republicans can't "respect the law" because the law violates their moral principles. America is one of the few nations where citizens still go to church and where a large percentage of the population believes there is an absolute moral right and wrong, not just every man's morals for himself. If you believe in something, you have to stand up for it, or what does that say about you? Slavery was legal for hundreds of years. Many people argued that the slaves were better off - they were fed, they were removed from the savage jungles and brought to the New World, they were introduced to God - so why didn't the Quakers and other abolitionists just respect the law and leave them alone? Because they knew it was wrong, and that an immoral law could be passed and that it was morally necessary for them to try and change that law. The same is true of abortion opponents. Maybe not all Americans feel the way they do, but even if it's only ten people, those ten people still have to speak up for what they believe.

Why can't Conservatives, like the one at the very top, address a woman's right to choose without using ad hominem attacks?

And, no, a baby doesn't have a say in it, because it's not babies that are aborted, but fetuses, and there is a distinction between the two.

Also, the debate isn't what infants think about the issue, the debate is what choices women by and large *should* have a right to make. The question is what reproductive rights do women inherently possess, and, after considerable thought and consideration is given to those rights, should there be certain restrictions to those rights?

It would be so wonderful if people didn't try to blur the debate, change the subject, and use logical fallacies to discuss this topic.

This question betrays your ignorance. Just because abortion is legal doesn't make it not murder anymore than legalizing slavery made that okay.

Being pro-life has nothing to do with Christianity. I am not a Christian and I am pro-life.

It doesn't help either that your four examples of when abortions should be okay are all examples of using abortion as birth control. Nice going, dumbass.

Finally, you say that Republicans are breaking laws by wanting to ban abortion? That is ridiculous. Republicans are trying to change the laws to ban abortion, that isn't breaking the law at all.

Next time you try to shove your ideas down someone else's throat, try to do so in a more intelligent fashion.

Just because something is made into a law doesn't mean that it's right. Just because a group of politicians make something a law - doesn't mean it's okay. In no way do I think abortion is right, I don't care if the law says it is - I'm not gullible enough to believe that every single law made is right or good.
People have the free will to do as they wish - that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Aborting a baby is killing a living being, that has a heart beat and grows each day - you can argue it isn't a person, but when it all comes down to it - you can't argue that it's not a living growing being.

Abortion is killing the innocent (baby).
Women who choose abortion are not deciding about
their own body, they are deciding about another body
the baby who is curetted out piece by piece. I wish
everyone would have to see the procedure done before
they make the decision to abort and they would probably
change their mind it is so grusome. Humans made the
law, and humans make mistakes. Not all laws are for
the good of this Country and laws have been rescinded
before when it was decided they were bad or not working.
The reason we accept the death penalty is that murderers
are not "innocent" as the aborted baby was. They have already
been found guilty and deserve to die if they've taken another
person's life. You need to wise up.

Actually, a lot of Republicans DO believe in a Woman's Right To Choose. That's exactly why the far right hasn't been able to overturn the law. That's why Bush has backed away from his promises to the far right. He knows he's already made too many enemies within his own party.

But remember there are also Democrats who are against abortion.

Stereotyping doesn't really help the situation.

America, if it is to stay strong and stay a beacon for Democracy has to move back towards the center.

Abortion is not the naswer even in rape cases. The problem there lies that you have mistakenly looked only at the rape from the standpoint of the victim must want to kill the baby off because it will remind her only of her attacker, but won't that same child also remind her of herself? Abortion kills half of her as well. The baby is not solely made from the man but both people and to kill a baby is to also kill a piece of yourself off. Why not instead opt at either raising the child and teaching him or her about you and your family, or just adoptin ghte child out to an awaiting family. It's not like you are concerned what happens to the baby so you can't say you would be unsure of the family you placed the child with, what would care? You were going to kill the child off. And if you did adopt the child out and years later this child contacted you would you respond? Or would you reply by saying i wish you were dead? Your own information was flawed when you said people that were having unsafe sex irresponsibly should not have abortions but then you later said they should have the right to an abortion if they want one. So which is it? it is sometimes okay or not? In which instances is it? From your own words you have contradicted yourself.

Rove vs Wade was upheld by the Supremes, but at that time the court was predominately liberal. As the court changes, so can the interpretation of the law. Keep in mind, the Supremes do NOT make law, they only interprete its constitutionality. So in otherwords, they get the final say. If the Supremes are bias in their ruling, as many think they were, the ruling can be revisited, and it probably will be. The ruling was very contraversial then, and it still is today. So of course there will be those who will challenge it, especially as the makeup of the court moves towards conservatism.

Hey, thats how the court works. Nothing is set in stone, so dont get too comfortable with what is considered legal today.

BTW, this is our country, not yours. Dont tell me to leave because I disagree with you, or if I disagree with the ruling of 9 ancient men and women wearing black robes. Your side used the the 9 ancients to get ur way, and someday we will use 9 different relics to get ours. When that happens, and it will, you'll learn to live with it just like we did.

ok then...if you want me to respect the opinion of this Supreme Court...then do you accept the position of the SAME Supreme Court that held that Bush became the President fair and legal in 2000?
It is funny, your question, because you are guilty of the thing you claim Republicans are responsible for....shoving views down the throats of other....
The law currently states that a woman has the right to an abortion...I disagree with it. I would like to see it changed. That is my right as an American. That is what WE as Americans enjoy as citizens of OUR country. I'm not going anywhere.

you all are a bunch a bunch of hipocrets. This doesnt have to do with not respecting woman, bush not respecting laws or whatever.. It is about a human life. It is your fault that you had sex with some guy and got pregnant. It wasn't the babys fault. Now if you were raped then maybe it is ok to have abortion. But abortion stops a heartbeat and that means u killed an innicent life.

Ask this to yourself... Does it have a heart?
A heart means life.
think about it.

I am a republican and i do respect the laws and woman def. but laws are sometimes needed to change. I mean thats what u liberals are doing anyways.
