When you put a computer to sleep, it goes into REM mode. It is true because the processor light keeps blinking. From wikipedia, "Most of the vividly recalled dreams occur during REM sleep. It is the lightest form of sleep, and people awakened during REM usually feel alert and refreshed". You can awaken a PC by merely tapping a key, and it is all ready to go again. But then, you are rudely disturbing its dreams.

However, when you hibernate a PC, it goes into much deeper sleep. That is when it dreams the most. Linux PCs dream about a shiny new kernel, Windows PCs are haunted by nightmares of viruses and spams. Macs on the other hand dream about running Windows.

I was talking to my computer the other day as I was shutting it down.

Computer: I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.
Me: Yes, I'd like to hear it, HAL. Sing it for me.
Computer: It's called "Daisy."
[sings while slowing down]
Computer: Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.

You should pose this to the guy who wanted to give us points for asking the most silliest question.

No computer does not dream because it does not have a mind, sorry. Unless of course, you just finished playing Doom, or Resident Evil, or looked at a lot of porn. Then the answer of course, would be yes.
