I would first back up and take a close look at who needs what help. If this guy who 'screwed up her life' is in jail and she wants help, living with you would seem to be an option. Since it isn't, I can only presume that she is not interested in the kind of help you are thinking of. Blaming him may not be the answer, as natural as it is.Probably the best you can do is make sure the kids are safe and cared for, let her reach her own bottom. When she wants help, not a handout, she will be there and so will you. Sorry , it is simple though not easy, BIG difference!

First of all you need to help you sister understand that people can't do that kind of crap to you unless you let them. I'm not condemning her cuz I let it happen to me, too. She needs to go to Health and Human Services or whatever it is called where you are. They will help her with emergency housing. They may have to go to a shelter, and of course maybe you could help her. This all needs to be temporary, though. She needs to work on being independent, and never ever depending on a man for her and her children's basic needs. Her church, also, should be able to help. Where I live there are many many wonderful agencies; but it is a hand up, not a hand out. Being able to take care of yourself and your kids is essential, but everyone needs help some time. God Bless you and your sister and your (niece/nephew s). Pray, pray pray.

Do you know if they could possibly stay with you,a family member or a friend temporarily? If not, go to a local housing center and tell her to apply for housing. They usualy give 1st considerations to women and children who does not have a home.Help her find employment immediately as she has a family to attend but until she has a job, tell her to go to her local county assistance office and see if she could get help with food stamps, medical assistance for the children, help with buying a used vehicle( Some states will allow if they are looking for job or attending college)If she can not get into housing, tell her to go to a womans shelter or a church to get assistance. .Last, tell your sister to get rid of the lowlife boyfriend. She doesn't need that kind of stress lingering around her especially if he had made her lose a job or blow up her vehicle).my personal opinion)

Send your sister to a women's shelter.
If there are problems involving abuse either emotional and or physical then she really needs to speak with professionals.
The compassion of the family may be to much for her.
