I am from Kentucky and I absolutey hate baseball and only enjoy basketball, but in New York and other cities like Chicago like baseball! Is it really an American sport or is it just a sport people from the big cities like? If not what IS the biggest sport in America, cause I assume it is tackle football which I happen to love to, but a wimpy sport like baseball? Please, Football should be America's biggest sport, I mean look at the toughness and what it is all together!

I feel like Football is the more dominant sport because it is everywhere. Some people really like baseball just like some like football or basketball. Baseball is considered Americas sport because we started it and it has been in America longer than football or basketball. I feel like the Superbowl is more important then the world series I mean commercial spots are huge. It just depends on what you like but a lot of people like it just like alot of people like Soccer, Basketball, or Football.

I'm from Indiana, and I am assuming BK is Bobby Knight..who I do adore but that is a whole other toppic... Up until the strike a few years back baseball was even more popular than it is now. When people think America they think Apple pie and baseball. As I mentioned I am from Indiana, (IU Alumni and employee) but I am not too fond of basketball, I live 30 miles out of Chicago, I love baseball I have for as long as I can remember, I am 34 now and I was inspired by the Cubs back in the 80's to play softball. It is not that wimpy of a sport there is a lot of conditioning that goes into it, I like football, but look they play 1 game a week for 16 weeks, yes it does take a lot out of you, but baseball players play 160 games and van play 4-5 days in a row for 6 months. that takes stamina, and is not for wimps. It is not that easy to hit a 98mph fastball and can you imagine how it feels to get beamed with one without all that padding?? I wonder if it is because there are no pro teams in or close to Kentucky, depending on where in the state you live? Not everyone likes baseball, and that is your perogative as an American. I know people here that does not like baseball, and there are 2 in Chicago, not to mention Milwaukee, Detroit, St. Louis are all not too far away. I just think it is a personal preference, I love baseball, but i do understand it is not for everyone. I would not knock the other sports I do not like but to each his own
nevermind I reread the first comment and noticed that BK is a female so obviously it is not Bobby Knight...

The biggest sport in the United States and in all of the world is horse racing...
When you consider how much money is brought in on a daily basis, total mutual handle, horse racing, stands up, as the greatest sport. And, jockey's are athletes...
But, the truth is...when you consider the equine athlete during his racing career and career at stud against the numbers of baseball, football, soccer,... the gazillions of dollars are so astronomical, that they can not be proven, only argued.
However, to answer the question...I like baseball. And, I am from N.Y.

Why would anyone watch baseball when they could be watching a FIFA match end up 0-0, and be decided on a "penalty kick?" WOW!
Get hit by a 100 mph fastball, or be a catcher blocking the plate against a runner scoring from third and get back to me about "wimpy." Course, you'll miss the play cuz yer text messaging on yer cell.

BASEBALL RULES!My state has never had a pro team and I have loved the game since I was a little kid. Can't play for **** but love to watch. It really is a thinking persons game and you have to have stamina, patience, physical endurance. They must be smart, while I also enjoy football and hockey, baseball players are for the most part - smart enough not to lose teeth or get hurt too badly on a daily basis.

Yes, the majority of sports-watching Americans like baseball.
Due to the great history of the game (that Barry Bonds is currently ruining by CHEATING) & the love affair that the US has had w/ baseball since its creation, it will continue to be America's sport forever. I truly believe that.

Yes, we do. Look at how much some of these guys get paid. Would they pay them that much if we didn't love the sport?
Not only that . . . but these players are so skilled and committed to the game.
If you went to a big league game I'm sure you'd like it. Maybe not love it, but like it enough to understand why we love it.
