Both - he would have charges filed against him because he has already signed that dotted line - right about the point where it asks if he ever used any illegal drugs. It's called "Fraudulent Enlistment"
Unless of course he used LSD, cause that doesn't show up in urine screens. If he smoked crack, he might get away with it because that stays a short time in the body - about 24-36 hours. If he smoked weed, he'll pee evidence for up to three weeks. Your boyfriend won't be a jarhead, just a pothead.

All though I think war is pointless and that there is a better solution, if a man is killing people for our country, then god damnit, let him drink a couple beers and smoke a couple joints!
Our soldiers are doing things a lot worse. In the long run, he would probably just get kicked out. I don't think there could be any serious legal consequences, what are they gonna do, shoot him?

"if he failed would he get into serious trouble or would they just kick him out?"
YES
if its a 'piss test' he should be fine if the last time was honestly a month ago. if he passes - by the time his tour is over - he'll be able to pee on command - they have them that often - at least in the army.

They test for EVERYTHING, including alcohol, prescriptions, acid, you name it. He just won't be shipped out. By the way, if he gets in, you won't hear from him in a while. Marines are the strictest. He might as well not pack either. They leave with the clothes on their back only.

if he get positive it is possible that he will be rejected so if he knows that he have doing something and the test is a urine test he can contaminate the test by putting some detergent under a nail and drooped on the container so the test will be wrong and ordered another so his body have time to eliminate the substance

He will be court marshaled if he fails the test and it will be up to the discretion of the military officials..
Yes, he will be kicked out for sure and if he does jail time it depends on how they feel the punishment fits..
Military is different than civilian when it comes to the seriousness of crimes, and I wish him luck...

Why would he fail? Doesn't it normally take several weeks to fully enlist? And, to the best of my knowledge, pot takes the longest to get out of your system and that's undetectable after thirty days. If he really wanted to join, he wouldn't have been doing drugs.

Don't know. Two options-
He could say that someone put something in his drink when he didn't realize. Or someone put the stuff in the brownies. This isn't the whole truth but it might work.

I suppose it depends on what he has been using.
If it is only MJ, it may not be a big deal. Harder drugs or LSD could get him disqualified.
If he has been sworn in already, he could be in deep doo doo.
