MY purpose driven life? It might sound corny or like a downright lie, but my purpose in life is my husband. I know you won't believe it, but it is quite true. I am sane, and I am not delusional. I didn't "forget to take my meds today". No, I just have decided that my life will be about making my husband's life fuller and more complete. If I never have a stellar career that sets the world on fire, if I never get my university degree or learn to speak 3 languages, if I never become famous in any way shape or form, if I never, ever accomplish any of the goals I had set out for in my youth...yet I see a look of peace and happiness on my husband's face...and I know that it is there because of me...I can die a happy woman.
See? Told ya it was corny!

Surely life cannot be purpose driven in light of the Social Contract. We give over far too much in the Social Contract to even begin to understand who we really are without it and what our purpose in life would have been without social contractual influences and outright commands.

My life as a Baha'i. Baha'is on every continent and island of the world are united in prayer, every day, by reciting the following, between noon and 6 p.m.:
I bear witness, O my God, that Thou hast created me to know Thee and to worship Thee. I testify, at this moment, to my powerlessness and to Thy might, to my poverty and to Thy wealth.
There is none other God but thee, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. --Baha'u'llah
I believe my individual purpose is to be God's eyes, ears, mouth, hands and arms. To serve whoever He sends across my path, during the course of every day. He says, through his mouthpiece, Baha'u'llah, that the highest station man can attain to, in this day, is the station of servitude. When we serve his creation, we are serving Him. That is my individual purpose. My collective purpose, along with the rest of mankind, is to carry forward an ever-advancing civilization of mankind on this planet.
So, you see, I have a VERy purpose-driven life. And what a trip it's been
! As the Beatles said, in the70s, won't you join us? We are the children; we are the world. If we're not part of the solution, we're part of the problem.
Since I committed myself to this Cause in 1968, my life has been such an adventure. Up to that point, I'd been a beach bum; wholly committed to my life--LOVED my life. Bikinis, surfboards during the day, boogying in the beer joints, at night. After committing myself to the Baha'i Faith, I've been all over the world, and met my brothers and sisters of all nations, races, cultures, and religious backgrounds, who are working to build the Kingdom of God on earth, as it is in heaven, as the Christ promised. Our world IS the Kingdom. No need to die to attain it. It's right here when you get with the Program.
