People ask questions about albinos and some of the answers I've read make them sound like they are not normal. I've always thought that albino people were just a different kind of race like black people. I find them to be very beautiful and just like any other human being. Why do people think they are not normal?

Honestly ... just because science says it's a defect doesn't mean science is correct. Ok so maybe they don't have melanin but maybe they aren't suppose to. Maybe they were made for tolerating cold weather.
I don't think it should be classified as a defect because a 100% black african also have troubles. Albino have trouble with the sun but black africans get cold easy and can't breath well in freezing cold weather. Is that considered a defect too?
I know their are albino africans and chinese and other cultures, but I think that they are made for other climates. Call me ignorant but to me, people are like pictures which come with negatives. So in my opinion, I'd say that there are some people that aren't suppose to have color which mean they have no need for melanin.

They arent a race at all, black people can have albino children, they still have all of the African traits except for the dark skin color eye color and hair color, Albinism is a genetic trait, and is sometimes thought to not be normal....The body isn't producing melinin so the skin is very light, and other symptoms occur such as light sensitivity. The reason people say it isn't normal is because it is a mistake in the copying part of DNA, usually there is an enzyme that checks to make sure that all of the DNA is in the right sequence, sometimes the enzyme doesn't work properly or it misses a mistake and you have genetic defects like Fragile X, Turner syndrome, Trisomy 21(down syndrome) and Albinism. Albinism isn't a big genetic defect, an albino person can live a pretty normal life, there is nothing wrong with being albino....its just a genetic defect, they aren't a race, any race could have its own albino person, with that races traits (An Chinesse albino would still have almond shaped eyes) see my point? Now that you have had your genetics class for the day, go and tell someone so people understand,
everyone is beautiful....and just because you have an obvious defect, doesn't change that, I have problems that you cant see, like ADD, but just cuz you dont' see them doesn't mean that they aren't there. Everyone has handicaps.

Albinism is considered to be a minor birth defect, because it is caused by a mutant gene. It is rare, but happens in many species. Of course albinos are just people with a minor skin color variation. The trait is confined to one gene and its existence doesn't mean that there is anything else wrong with the person. They will have a problem with sunburn, and they may not even be able to tan worth a darn, but they are normal people.

If you think that prejudice against albinos is wrong then you are not alone. After all it is only one gene that is different, something similar to say the X gene in Marvel's X-Men. So if you like albinos then just think of them as people with the super power of being white. Sure you can't do much with that super power, but in the world of the X-Men not all X gene mutations are good.

Maybe your albino friend can try a spray-on-tan. Of course they probably don’t want to deny who they are, and they think that they are normal.

No, albinoism is not a race, honey, is a defective gene that did not read for skin pigmentation. Albinos show up in every critter, in every race. The eyes are pink, since the blood shows thru -- there is no blue or brown pigment in the iris. The skin has a white-pink hue since there is no skin color. The hair is white, since there is no brown, red or black pigment..... Get it now???

Genetic mutation will give us a great variety of characteristics, including albinos, 'wolf-men' with excessive hair, blondes...

Some mutations are more harmful to survival than others. Albinos do not fare well in a natural environment but our artificial environment allows them to thrive.

Are they a race? Not really. But, like blondes, I wonder if they were to interbreed with each other and multiply if they could create a large enough distinct population to create a new race.

They're very rare cause all their genes have to be recessive. I find them to be normal, but they also have some problems, too, from being albino. However, what's normal and what's not? My friend's legs are two different lengths, but not visibly--not at all if she pads her shoes cause it's like an inch-- but that's considered a disability. However, I find her normal
