As with most swing films (the second film of a trilogy) there was a lot going on that made it hard to keep the plot lines separate.

I also felt a lot of the action was done to pad the length without advancing the plot (although the water wheel sequence was very funny).

I felt it was a bit more "expositionary" than the first. This is obviously due to the filmmakers not certain if the first Pirates would be box office boffo enough to make a sequel.

Anyhoo...

There are a ton of loose ends to deal with.

Norrington and Beckett.
Will and Elizabeth.
Barbosa and Jack.
Davy Jones and...well, I stumbled on this one...the woman he loved so much that he cut his own heart out because it caused him so much pain.

I know who she is.

Remember the musical pendant that Davy Jones owned? The one that played while Will was stealing the key to the chest from Jones?

One other character in Pirates II wears the exact pendant. I spotted it in the Official Movie Guide book.

Her name is Tia Dalma - the Voodoo Priestess in the swamp. She's the woman Davy Jones loves.

AMAZING! Just as good as the first. I am a huge pirates fan. I had seen the first one more than like 20 times. They did a great job of linking the end of the first movie to the beginning of the second. Anyways, back to dead mans chest, it was great...for anyone...it wasnt like it just pertained to a certain group of people. By the time it was over I was already begging for more.

I loved it great effect, with the wheel and the cracken.
The best visual effect of course is Johnny Depp.
He is hilariously funny and sooo sexy; I think he is the best american
character player we've got, the same for Russell Crowe the
two just seem to climb into their roles and become the people they're portraing. And yes the movie was great

Good cast, great special effects, lots of financial backing and yet the movie was a huge disapointment. Bad plot, lame script, and poor dialogue. Everything about this movie is designed to sell toys, rides, tickets, and DVDs. Don't wast your money.

One of the absolute worst, most retarded, most lame, most idiotic, most boring, most uninteresting, stupidest, and positively sh*tty movie I have ever seen in my life.

I want my freaking $7.50 back. I want those 2 and a half hours back! I got screwed, I got scammed!!!

too many computer graphics. and it was sort of a let down for people who liked the humor from number one.
