My favorite growing up was always Peter Davison (he seems to be popular with women) because of his subdued manner and gentle nature- a welcome relief for me, after Tom baker's reign of insanity. Now that I'm older I've come to appreciate the finer points of all the Doctors, even Colin Baker. I wasn't sure what to think of Christopher Eccleston at first but he definitely grew on me, combining as he did the best aspects of Doctors 2-5. But I find David Tennant to be utterly enchanting. He's alternately silly and serious, with a ruthless streak.

So people, who's YOUR Doctor?

I met Jon Pertwee at a convention and had a chance to chat with him, so I'm a bit biased towards him. I did like Tom Baker very much.

I was quite impressed with Christopher Eccleston, and my wife and I were quite disappointed that he left after only one season. The David Tennant episodes have not been shown in the US yet, and I'm very curious to see how they turned out. The production values are SO much better than they were during the original run.

Is the Doctor getting younger with each regeneration, or am I getting older?

I think it depends how old you are as to which is your favorite Doctor. I grew up with John Pertwee as the true Doctor, and only grew to like William Hartnell & Patrick Troughton in later years. I always hated Tom Baker as the Doctor (probably because he replaced Pertwee - but a lot of the storylines bugged me), but not so much as Colin Baker. Peter Davidson was good and I would have liked to have seen more ofmhim. Sylverster McCoy was OK, and I don't think Paul McGann really had a chance. Chris Eccleston managed to find a fresh identity for our favorate Tile Lord... but for me it's always John Pertwee driving Bessie to meet Sara Jane & the Brigadeer.

I watched a number of repeats about 10-13 years ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Jon Pertwee era. The first doctor I ever saw was Sylvester McCoy, although he's not high on my list. I've only seen David Tennant in the Christmas episode (and the last few seconds of the 2005 series), but of what I saw, I look forward to seeing the 2006 series when it comes to Canada.

Tom Baker was good and had the help of good companions too. Christopher Eccleston was great but now he just seems strange now that I've got used to David Tennant.
Tennant is great too, but he over-acts a lot, especially when he's had a good idea.
Can't wait 'till the new season starts (The Christmas episode will surely be great too) with Freema Agyeman(actresses name) as the Doctor's companion.

I remember seeing Dr. Who on the public tv channel when I was younger. But my favorite so far is Christopher Eccleston. Probably because he has such range. I loved when he played Major Henry West in 28 Days Later.

i think of David Tennant is impressive, yet because of the fact the docter? Matt smith wins actually now. nonetheless no longer fond of Amelia pond as his better half however, she annoys me, yet she's long gone now besides so as that would not count :P

My favorite doctor is Dr. Kevorkian because he can't really screw up no matter what he does. If he does his job correctly, his patients are no longer in any pain, but if he screws up, then his patients are alive.
