Crap, I am in the exact same situation. I would leave if I didn't have 3 kids and had a good job, but then again I wouldn't want to work and leave my kids. And I'm afraid of an ugly custody battle. I have found though that over the years things have gotten a little better. I have learned to call him on the carpet. To tell him calmly that his behavior is disrespectful, immature, he claims to believe in God so occasionally I say to him, is this the way a believer should behave? If you have parents who you could live with that would probably be best, your daughter deserves to see her mother treated kindly and with respect so that when it is her turn she will know how it is supposed to be between a man and a woman. I have bad ADD and instead of understanding he calls me a retard so I totally know what you're going through. It's a trade off. I mean you have to eat some sh*t but he pays the bills. So sorry I don't have a better answer sweetie.

It's best that you don't date anytime soon. You'll wind up with a "hero", someone looking to rescue an abused woman just so he can take the abusive place. Get some counselling. Make sure you don't contact the ex.
