Yes, the m4a format you is incredibly small. I convert all of the songs I record to this using iTunes.

.ogg is a nice one it is free to use. You will never have to worry about being sued for using it. It also has better sound than mp3's

if you burn your music to data like a saved file you can burn more to a disc than an mpeg but you need an mp3 cd palyer though you can burn about 7 albums if you burn to data instead
