I was out of town for the 4th of July holiday, I let the landlord know I would be away. I was asked if I wanted the air in my unit turned back on the day I returned. I advised that I did not. Upon my return, I noticed that a few things were different from how I had left them. I received a note that stated, she heard a noise upstairs and came up to check. Supossedly it was a MOUSE. I think she just wanted to snoop through my stuff, as I have heard from other tenants that the landlady has stolen jewelery and other items from them. I stay here alone and do not have much, but it is mine and I don't appreciate someone snooping through them.

Wrong category. You need to read your lease. It should state what the landlord's rights are and what your's are. If in doubt, contact a lawyer or legal aid.

If there is a lease, it probably has a clause that allows the owner or an agent to enter your unit for various reasons. If you cannot change the lock on your unit to keep people out, I recommend you find another place to live
