No, because if everyone did that, there would be no music to download. The music you download is from other people. It's illegal to get any copyrighted music without paying for it.

It is still illegal to download music using Limewire, but if you don't have a share file, i think it makes it harder for them to catch you.
However, a lot of people will kill your downloads if they see you're not sharing anything. I keep a share folder with only like 10 files in it.

That isn't true at all. Downloading music from limewire or any other source, if you do not not have expressed consent from the copyright-holder, is illegal. Much like stealing a tv from wal mart is still legal if you don't re-sell it.

This is just the law, i'm not saying you have to care about it or follow them.

IN my humble opinion,
If you can tape shows from the television and you can record from the radio, How in the world can it be illegal for me to share with you, what is on MY computer. It is mine and I can share with whoever I want to. They have not passed any laws that I am aware of.. On that note, Let me remind you that peer to peer sharing is a wonderful way of getting a virus. So be careful what you upload. Check out the size of the song and compare it (the song) to the rest of them (the songs). If it is way shorter or bigger just don`t upload it.. I don`t know any other hints to help. I have done it a bunch when winMX was still around. Miss them..

God bless & Hugs from Texas. {:-)

It's illegal either way. Downloading MP3 files is stealing from the artist and their copyrights. If you want to download and not get caught as easily, then don't share the file. Definitely.

no, because you are taking an illegal copy of the song. If someone burns a cd for you, and you take it, even if it's never going to leave your cd player, it's still illegal. It's posession of stolen property, if nothing else.

It doesn't matter if you download but don't share. If the material you are downloading is copyrighted and you don't have permission it's illegal.
