I would avoid using any ortho product or round-up. Both of these products are systemic herbicides which will linger in the soil and can damage other plants nearby. If you want an organic solution, you can use a high concentrated vinegar solution (at least 20% vinnegar). This will burn any plant that does not have a woody stem. It is an absolute great organic method for killing weeds. You just need to be careful when you apply it.

Any chemical or herbicide that will kill poison ivy, will also kill almost all of the surrounding plant life as well.
Stay clear of the poison ivy, and let it die off on its own.
Don't try burning the poison ivy, it can harm your lungs, as a vapor.
One thing that works, is to cover the poison ivy, with a thick biodegradable paper. Cutting off the sun from any plant, will kill it.
Be very careful, dealing with the rash from any poisonous plant is no fun, and it can ruin your summer.

I don't believe there is a specific herbicide just for poison ivy. So you must use a general herbicide like round-up that kills everything. Or you can use a cheap gardening trick and buy a gallon of bleach. It kills everything too. But just for thirty days.
There is some strong stuff out there that will sterilize soil for yrs but I don't think you want that. Try the bleach trick. It's cheap and comes four gallons to a box. One caution. Never never burn poison ivy. It gets in your lungs and then you are a hospital case.

both frame of mind above can artwork, yet will likely pick to be repeated quite a few circumstances - poison ivy is demanding to kill. RoundUp is an truly secure herbicide even as used in accordance label instructions. set up some kind of non everlasting fence round it to keep your animals away - in the journey that they brush adverse to it, they could %. up urushiol (energetic oil of poison ivy) on their fur and unfold it to you once you puppy them. as quickly because it appears that evidently to be lifeless, eliminate it right down to the soil element, bag it, and THROW IT AWAY! do no longer compost - the oil remains energetic for years - and exceptionally do no longer BURN (the smoke may reason systemic poison ivy in case you breathe it!) . do no longer attempt to apply the timber for some thing (exceptionally kitchen equipment!) - it is deadly.poisonous! sparkling backyard equipment with detergent and bleach two times before utilising back. After any plausible publicity to poison ivy: clothing contained in the washer and wash two times in warm water with a great number of detergent! You contained in the bathe and SCRUB down two times! good success!

first of all... DO NOT USE ORTHO WEED B GONE ... this will only kill minor weeds and spend your money.

what you need is Roundup- poison ivy ... it comes in a one gallon, pre-mixed and with a spraw nozel... hit it with that stuff and forget it. i work at lowes and have told ppl(most of whom are regulars that i see day to day) to buy this and have had no complaints about it working yet. (price: $15-20 pre-mixed gal)

if you want a cheaper route... use gas and/or diesel... if this doesnt work... dig it up b/c your arnt going to kill it

also to do it naturally dress covering your self well with gloves and pant tucked into socks and boots. cut it back and then cover with tarps or black plastic old carpet etc heavy mulch to smother it this will kill it but the roots are still toxic so w hen it dies and if you pull it up then throw it in a dark plastic bag and dispose of it at your local landfil or (dump). But smothering it works well no chemicals involved.

Ortho weed be-gone is the best. They also make it for woody vines, but you have to be extremely careful with that stuff because it kills everything woody...trees included.

Pour ammonia into the ROOTS. And whatever you do, don't burn the dead stuff. It gets into the air and can penetrate your lungs.
