Any object existing in the universe, have both extreme. For example, magnet - S and N poles, Electricity - (+Ve) and (-ve), ions in a molecule - (+Ve) and (-ve), People's mind - positive thinking and negative thinking etc. Thus each and every thing in the universe is made up of two oppositly charged or aimed entity with different proportions to remain in neutral. Within such objects, the dominance of either of this natures (+ve or -ve) exists in one point of that object. This point is called pole. Example, you take earth (globe) - South pole and North pole. You take photorotation by chemicals - anticlockwise or clockwise. Take the electriacally charged cells - (+ve and -ve). You take animals - Male and Female. You take plants - male, female, hermaphrodite (combination of two extremes). This type of nature in any physically existing object is called polarity.

The polarity of an object is, in general, its physical alignment of atoms. The term is often used to describe the positive and negative ends of batteries and magnets.

It is anything which is aligned along an axis, especially magnetic alignment, which is north/south. But really, the term applies to all sorts of polarities, such as male/female, republican/democrat, etc. In fact, of course, there are times when a two-state bit is not enough. See the world's smallest political quiz.

For light, polarity or polarization refers, roughly speaking, to the direction of oscillation of the photon's electric field in the plane perpendicular to the photon's direction of travel. Your polarized sunglasses are aligned to filter out the horizontal oscillating photons, such as those that reflect effectively off water.

Chemically speaking:
Atomic particles are in constant movement. Polarity occurs when lots of the 'negative' particles (aka electrons) gather in the same general vicinty, or end. The opposite end or area becomes positively charged when this occurs. This can happen spontaneously or it might be induced (by introducing either a positively or negatively charged atom or compound).

relates purely to the concentration of electrons, or lack thereof, in electronics. Magnets made of soft iron have each atom in it pointing in one direction, positive ions on one side, electrons pointed the other.. If you pass a coil (tightly wrapped roll of wire) across the magnet it will generate electron polarity one direction as it approaches then in the opposite direction as it goes away...
