I am glad you said black expo. but the african american crap makes me want to puke. So I guess there is also an expo for all the other races, or this is discrimination.
red, yellow, black, brown, white
that means the other 80% are merely people to donate the money for this wonderful expo
What about me, I am from India

Hello dcell5,
You are soooo right! What an intelligent and insightful question! (You are truly my beautiful sister and you make me proud!)
African American youth are making a positive contribution to the society everyday. They are leading the causes of affirmative action, civil rights, the war against poverty, slave reparations, and so many other causes that should never be forgotten.
We should all help the African American youths of today to be more empowered and not dis-enfranchised.
By the way...will u pleez pick this as best answer. U R sweet if u do! thin-Q vry mch!

They are taking their rightful and well-earned places among all levels of society. Someday you will not have to qualify your question with the term "African American Youth." They'll just be "Youth." But the change in thinking must now come from those who would still hyphenate their cultural origins. Just as anglo-americans do not think of themselves as such so must those of african descent. True, no one should ever forget the injustices suffered by non-europeans, but it is time to move on. Black people have moved into the highest strata of government, finance, and every other aspect of our great American Culture. I'm not saying we don't have a long way to go, but look at how far we've come! And this from a Mississippi white guy who's people were the most racist you would never want to meet. But, black people, by freeing themselves also freed us. Thank you.

As long as you see yourselves as black first, Americans second, there will always be stereotypes and positives. Focus less on race and more on being a person.

I hope, to quit identifying themselves as "African-Amercans" or any other kind of separate group, and get on with being good human beings.
