I has a guy friend who went to a formal ball dressed as Xena Warrior Princess once - it was a classic. The more ridiculous the better with fancy dress so Mr. T would be excellent but do it right with body paint and a good mohawk hair cut/wig and beard otherwise it could be tragic (if people can't guess who you are instantly it's not worth it). Other funny ones are the eighties aerobics instructor, bondage outfits, thunderbirds, a brides dress or Steve Irwin (complete with plasic snakes and blow up croc that you randomly wrestle to to ground) - I had a friend do that last one, he did hilarious impersonations all night.

If anyone asks you why you chose him, just shout them down with 'Shut up, Fool'.
Don't forget the big feather earing thing.

You can always go with the classic 40's gangster look.Try to find an authentic costume shop..not the cheap polyester replicas sold by your run of the mill costume stores.Also if you are going with a date she can compliment your costume with a flapper outfit to keep with the theme.

Depends... if you want to have the best costume, you might have to spend quite a bit of money. But if you want to get laid, just go as Superman.
