SPOILERS FOLLOW...
Matthew was killed tonight by Isabelle, but there were several people who died on tonight's episode. He was trying to control/manipulate Isabelle for his own purposes which weren't really ever explained til tonight. He wanted her to kill off the 4400 returnees. However, Isabelle showed him (quite forcefully) that she would make her own decisions. If this episode was any indication of what's to come, it's going to get a lot worse for the 4400 and the world, before everything is figured out. You should try and catch the re-run tonight. It'll air at 12am EST on USA. Hope I helped.

Isabella killed Matthew cause he wanted to kill all the 4400 people who returned from wherever. She is quite a baby, lol.
