Jake is right----but you can treat the whole tank as long as the med doesnt say "do not use on scaleless fish" other than that--no problem treating the entire tank but you HAVE TO TAKE THE CHARCOAL OUT OF THE FILTER WHILE TREATING AS THE CHARCOAL WILL "EAT" THE MEDS YOU PUT IN AND YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND THE CHANCE OF THE FISH GETTING BETTER-sorry bout the caps----

Have you had your water tested? Many smooth fish such as most catfish are more proned to showing signs of illness in poor quality water. Most per stores will test water for free bring in a sample. It might just be poor water quality. It is not ick. For future referance Ick looks like salt sprinkled on your fish. Do not treat until you find out what the problem is.

No its not ick...If its anything its a internal parasite...I agree with the others, don't treat it just to treat it. But I would do some research on pictus' specifically and find out if its something they get commonly. I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I'd be willing to bet its a parasite, which is treatible.

This may sound stupid but- are you sure it's not his eye? My pleco has small bumbs on his eyes- about where the pupil is- maybe a little above it.

NEVER treat fish for something your not sure they have. Medicating is stressful. You have to remove the filter medis for it to work and then your changing the water chemistry. On top of it all meds reduce the amount of O2 in the water.

I would do a 25% water change and then keep an eye on everyone. Most sick fish will get better with an improvement in water conditions- and you don't even know if you have sick fish.

Chances are if you medicate your going to stress someone out and make them sick.

no its not ich. do not treat it just to treat it. you dont wanna use something that wont work, it will do more harm than good. you need a book on common ailments and their cures. i'd go to a pet store and get one right away, and treat it in a hospital tank.
