I consider myself both a conservative and a Republican, but John Kennedy was a good man. Richard Nixon was sleazy but he tried to get us out of the war and cool things off with the communists. There are bad Republican presidents and there are good Democratic presidents. John Kennedy was a man with conviction that did what he felt was the best for this country.
Despite his liberal leanings, he had ideals in which he believed. Ending the war with the Soviets was important, but Vietnam was a completely meaningless war. As someone that lived and fought through those times, I watched a lot of good men die for no good reason. I don't think the Vietnam war ever would have goten off the ground if LBJ wouldn't have been around. Kennedy would have driven Goldwater into the ground in '64 and in '68 chances are his brother would have ran against Nixon in a pretty close race. LBJ is to blame for Nam, he was a horrible monster and a terrible president. He exploited that man's death for his own political gain and it was absolutely disgusting and shameless of him to do.

I don't know that JFK was a truly great president. He had a lot of charisma. He was young and he had an attractive wife and family, but he was also sleeping around a lot. He seemed to fumble in dealing with foreign policy issues. Of course, some things would have been different if he had not been assassinated, but how different? We would have remained in Viet Nam and the war would have escalated under Kennedy as it did under Johnson. The fallout from things like the Bay of Pigs invasion may have actually hurt Kennedy's reelection chances and the Republicans could have taken over the White House after the 1964 election instead of the 1968 election. Who knows? As someone who grew up in this era, I think that JFK became more of a hero in death than he actually was in life.

JFK though a democrat was far more conservative than the party has become today. He was going to get the boys out of Vietnam before it got worse, change the federal reserve note to an American note which would have cut the budget as there would have been no interest on it as it is today. He was a strong leader and had tremendous vision. When he as killed Americans lost faith in the government and it changed a lot of things in America some of which that are not good like anti American sentiment and anti war activists that always view us as the bad guys from which we have never recovered. It's hard to say who would have been President today as Americans were far different then than now in regards to patriotism. The democratic party was far different then than it is now, so you must remember that. I liked JFK though I was only 10 when he was murdered.

Obviously a very speculative answer but I would venture to say we would not have gotten so involved in Vietnam, it would have been much more difficult to pass the Civil Rights legislation LBJ was able to pass and likely a bridge for his brother to run in 68 and likely win. In a previous answer someone put he would have lost in 64 to Goldwater who was the candidate and that would simply not have happened. Kennedy was popular, well spoken and would not abandon diplomacy until he absolutely had to. I think Americans would be more confident in their leadership and they would not have lost the faith in government as they saw their leaders slain for no good reason.

Kennedy was a man, not a god. Why do you think his death changed anything? It didn't, except for maybe the way secret service go abouts their duties.
After JFK was shot, the world still rotated on its axis, and the sun still rose in the east. And believe it or not, JFK did in fact put his pants on one leg at a time.

Probably much better and cooler, because he was young, in my opinion. With Bush, there's no telling when the soldiers are coming home!
