I am an American, the USA is in a mess. Our foreign policy is poor, our secret services and intelligence agencies are poor. Our interference in Iraq has cost the lives of many americans, the blood is on our hands. The whole world is laughing at us, justified, We have no culture. Our people stuff their faces, gluttony, selfishness is widespread. We should be ashamed. We are no longer respected.

Im not moving anywhere. Im an American. Is that what we do move people who disagree with you, thats not demorcratic, make up your minds fellow americans, you cant have it both ways.

And too the guy who is going back to iraq for the third time, thats your problem, no one is forcing you to go, if you studied hard in school you may not be there. quit the army if you cant take the heat. Its the people like you who ruin our army, constantly moaning, causes bad moral, remember viet nam. We need to accept our shortfalls and take them on, not push them to the side.

Fellowo Americans, your attitude makes me realise why 9/11 happened, its not justified, but you really frustrate people with your dominating attititude.

If you don't like the USA, then leave. Seriously. I personally disagree with you on almost every point you made. I love it here. Our foreign policy is what it is, and I think it's working for now. Our secret service and intelligence agencies are fantastic. Our "interference" is helping to spread our ideal of democracy. The whole world can laugh if they want, but our country is great. We most definitely have a culture, it's just different from the culture of any other country. We are a melting pot, a mixture of many cultures and traditions. Not all of the people are gluttons who stuff their faces, and you can find those people everywhere worldwide. We should not ever be ashamed of our country. As soon as the people stop believing in their country, then all of these things might come true. As I said, if you hate it so much, leave. There are many people who would be glad to trade lives with you just to live here for a day.

And I'm not saying any of this to disrespect any other countries. But I do believe that people should take pride in their own country and have faith, no matter which country you call home.

The US is in a mess because we're not in a popular war. GWB is losing ally's left and right. There are a lot of gluttens here in the US, but not everyone. I workout everyday. The rest of the world thinks the United States is a disgrace because of the war, and the fact that unless we have monitary/trade intrest with you, then we don't care about you or your culture, and thats most unfortunate in most cases. We are no longer respected for what we were. We're laughed at becuase of what we're becomming, but I fought for this country in 2 major wars, the Afghanistan and 2nd Iraqi war. We do more good than the news sources say. They only report a fraction of the things we do in Iraq. We have rebuilt that country for them. As for our Secret Service, and Intelligence agencies, they fall under the president, and his leadership, so go figure. It will all change in a couple of years, and the USA will rebound, don't take it hard, and don't listen to these pansys telling you to leave, becuase thats just idiotic.

You are blind. You drink in the anti American propoganda from your network news then go wring your hands in grief and gloom because you think America is an evil country.
What we have done in Iraq is a wonderful thing. We are freeing an opressed people and turning a dictatorship into a democracy.
You seem to think we are rounding up ignorant red necks at gun point from around the country, shiping them to Iraq and telling them to kill women and children, then celebrating if they get killed by an IED. How ignorant can you be?
The people who join our millitary are not forced, they volunteer. They don't do it for the money. They don't do it because there is a lack of oportunity in thier "poor, backward" little communities. They do it out of something you probably wouldn't understand, a sense of duty. Many thousands volunteered after 911, some of whom I know personally. These people love thier country and they joined to serve.
The world is not laughing at us. The world took our resolve seriously when we invaded Afghanistan. They respected our power when we took Iraq. Lybia decided It was best to turn over her WMD voluntarily when she saw our abillity and our determination.
As for our intelligence agencies. Don't assume you know what they know or how they operate. I am not convinced thier inteligence on Iraq WMD was wrong. Right now there is no one assigned to look for WMD in Iraq, yet we are still stumbling across caches of illegal WMD burried in the dessert that Sadam never disclosed and the media doesn't say one word about it.
I could go on. But I'll just say, if you hate this country, leave.

Cynicism is a zero sum game.

Americans have this need to second guess everything we do. That is not productive. Sometimes it's better to stick to a mediocre plan than capriciously switching gears.

I've travelled to many parts of the world. I know the pros and cons of the U.S. In its defense, no people are more gracious, compassionate, generous and forgiving than Americans.

You know what the biggest, most basic difference I've noticed between Americans and foreigners? In the face of tragedy, foreigners may express concern or sympathy, but instead of just commiserating, Americans will ask, "How can I help?".

THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE! That's why I'm proud to be American.

Read some wise words from Stephen Colbert (Comedy Central)

At Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois (Tribune June 11, 2006)

Stephen Colbert:

Now, will saying "yes" get youin trouble at times? Will saying "yes" lead you to do some foolish things? Yes it will. But don't be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don't learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying "yes" begins things. Saying "yes" is how things grow. Saying "yes" leads to knowledge. "Yes" is for young people. So, for as long as you have the strength to, say "yes".

I am american and I think the usa is the best country in the world. The only disgrace I see is people like you badmouthing MY country to the world. If nuts like you would shut their damned mouths other countries would see our solidarity and not laugh. But when they see fellow americans calling america "disgrace" of course they will laugh.

Ur a fool sitting behind a keyboard thinking you know something. A fool behind a computer is still a fool. Those people from other nations aren't laughing with you, they are laughing at you.

Ok. Did you bump your head? Our country is the most powerful, most wealthy, most free country on god's green earth. If you had said anything like that in north korea, iraq, iran or anywhere else that thinks we're so bad you would be shot in the street and left to rot. that blood on our hands is not even a drop in the bucket for the 3000+ american's whose blood was spilt on September 11th. Or how about the generations of men and women who spilt their blood to protect your ability to bash your own fantastic country, Including my best friend. so the next time you feel like saying how much you hate your country, THINK!

You say you are an American? Then act like one! You sound like we are so hated and like anywhere but here is better. We are not perfect, but we are better than anything that is in second. I love America and what it stands for. When you look at other places in the world, what makes them think they have the right to say anything when we have always helped them and accepted them in our country as Americans? Get on that plane and leave if you are so miserable.

I know what you mean, but try flipping the coin and looking at the positive things America has done for the world. No one country is 100% bad or 100% good, just like no one person is entirely evil or good.

Try traveling abroad. The perspective allowed me to realize exactly what "american culture" is.

I am Canadian myself, and I have talked to a few Americans about this. It is your government that is giving your people a bad name. Some of us more informed Non-Americans realize that it isn't the American citizens choice. The Americans that I have met are good people. I have fun interacting with them.

Are you really an American? I do agree with you our country is going to hell in a handbasket, the government has a little to do with that, along with the attitude of the american public.
